Cop Mohor Negeri Pahang

COP MOHOR NEGERI PAHANG
Cop Mohor Negeri Pahang mula diperkenalkan pada 31 Disember 1947 selepas mendapat perkenan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Pahang, Sultan Abu Bakar Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mu'adzam Shah.

THE ROYAL SEAL

The Pahang State Seal only existed with the grace of KDYMM Sultan Pahang on 31 December 1947. Discussion about this issue was started in the beginning of 1947 after Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Besar Pahang as Yang Dipertua Jawatankuasa Undang-undang Tubuh Negeri Pahang was given this responsibility. YAM Tengku Besar appointed Dato’ Setia Jaya to design the seal. The design of the Pahang Official State Seal is based on Pahang State Emblem.

The early Pahang Coat of Arms was shaped like a crown where the top part contains the spear head that is flanked by Arabic words, “Ya Latif” at the right and left of the bottom part. At the bottom of the crown, there is a pair of criss-crossed elephant tusks.  This first coat of arms was eventually changed by taking away the crown and putting in the coffee leaf motive.

When designing the Pahang State Coat of Arms, the Coat of Arms of Perak, Selangor and Johor also became points of reference. One interesting thing about this is the confusion of which between the words “mohor” or “mahar” is correct. Notes on the cover of the file of KDYMM Sultan on 10 June 1947 stated that:

“About the design of this Coat of Arms, it seems that it is already beautiful other than which between the spellings ‘molek’ and ‘malar’ is correct. Therefore, if agreed upon, it is good that we adjourn the following meeting so that we could ask Dato’ Setia Jaya.”
